Rare Element Added to S&P/TSX SmallCap Index

Lakewood, Colorado - Rare Element Resources Ltd. (TSX: RES and NYSE MKT: REE) is pleased to report that the S&P/TSX SmallCap Index has added Rare Element Resources to the index commencing at close of market September 21, 2012.

Lakewood, Colorado - Rare Element Resources Ltd. (TSX: RES and NYSE MKT: REE) is pleased to report that the S&P/TSX SmallCap Index has added Rare Element Resources to the index commencing at close of market September 21, 2012. Rare Element was one of 47 companies added to the Index this year.

Randall Scott, President and CEO, stated, "We are pleased to be added to the S&P/TSX SmallCap Index. Our historical liquidity and market capitalization has enabled our inclusion into the Index and we will work hard to maintain our status on the Index."
