similar. Of these, we have chosen to display only the predicted exposure rates,
because they are the most directly meaningful to worker and public safety.
2.2 Deviations from the December 2010 SAP and QAPP
The SAP prescribes surveying in 100 m transects in the plant processing area; however, transects
were spaced evenly, at 500 m, across the entire Project. Currently, RER intends to process ore
off-site, thus precluding the need for the narrower transects; that is, there is no processing area at
the Project. The survey of Miller Creek Road was an addition to the SAP. The road is anticipated
to be used as a haul road for ore shipments. The survey was conducted to provide a baseline for
potential radiological impacts to the road.
The selection of the number of random and biased surface soil samples met the intent of the
SAP, inasmuch as it was dictated by the guidance provided in its Sections 2.3.3.2 and 2.3.3.3 and
statistical trends observed in the GPS-based gamma count rates.
The SAP prescribes collection of field duplicates at a frequency of 5 percent for the soil
sampling program. Duplicate samples were collected at a higher frequency of 10 percent in this
investigation: three duplicate samples were collected from the set of 32 samples.
2.3 Future Work
Radiological monitoring of air (particulates and ambient radon), surface soils at air monitoring
stations, groundwater and surface water is ongoing. RER intends to continue this work for the
remainder of 2012 and through 2013.
